Enzymes - catalysts of the body

This dietary supplement from ViVe Supplements combines the protein-splitting enzymes bromelain, trypsin and chymotrypsin with the polyphenol rutin.

Most enzymes, also called biocatalysts, are proteins that are largely produced in the body. If there is a genetic error, some enzymes may be missing from the body. A typical function of enzymes is, for example, the breakdown of carbohydrates, fats and proteins as part of digestion, but they also perform numerous tasks in metabolism.

Cleavage of proteins

When we talk about bromelain, or bromelin, we are talking about an enzyme mixture and not, as is often assumed, about a single enzyme obtained from pineapple. The substance can be obtained from the fruit or the stem .
In the food industry, the enzyme mixture is used as a tenderizer for meat and to clarify fruit juices.

Trypsin is also one of the protein-splitting enzymes. It is composed of three different enzymes:Trypsin-1, Trypsin-2 and Trypsin-4. In humans, it is produced in the pancreas and plays an important role in the digestion of proteins.

Chymotrypsin is very similar to trypsin in terms of its function and also comes from the pancreas. The crucial difference, however, is the milk-clotting effect of chymotrypsin.

Rutoside, also called rutin, belongs to the group of flavonoids and the supergroup of polyphenols. In nature, the plant pigment serves plants as an antioxidant and UV protection. Rutin can be found increasingly in Japanese string tree, buckwheat, parsley and St. John's wort.
